Mahindra launches XEV 9S electric SUV in India with 7-seat layout and aggressive pricing
Mahindra has launched the XEV 9S, its first mass-market three-row electric SUV in India. The XEV 9S brings 7 seats, modern EV features and competitive pricing starting near Rs 19.95-21 lakh, positioning it as a strong option for buyers seeking a spacious EV SUV.
The XEV 9S is built on Mahindra’s INGLO electric platform, the same architecture behind the XEV 9e and BE 6. It marks the company’s first attempt at a full-size three-row electric SUV aimed at families and larger groups.
Powertrain options include 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs mated to a 282 bhp / 380 Nm rear-wheel drive motor. This combination promises solid performance and a practical range suitable for both city and highway travel.
On the inside, the XEV 9S offers a contemporary cabin with features usually seen in higher-end EVs. Expect a triple-screen setup (driver display, infotainment and front-passenger screen), reclining second-row seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and a premium audio system. Higher variants may also include Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, wireless charging and other creature comforts.
Price for the entry-level model starts at around Rs 19.95-21 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the battery and variant chosen. The SUV is well-placed to challenge other EVs and serve as an electric alternative to popular ICE SUVs. Its launch strengthens Mahindra’s push into the electric SUV segment and offers an affordable three-row EV for Indian families.
