NIA custody of gangster Anmol Bishnoi extended till December 5 after special hearing inside agency headquarters
A special court has extended the NIA custody of gangster Anmol Bishnoi till December 5 after holding the hearing inside the NIA headquarters. The arrangement was made due to heightened security concerns linked to the high-profile accused.
A special court in Delhi has ordered that gangster Anmol Bishnoi remain in the custody of the National Investigation Agency until December 5. The decision was taken during an unusual hearing conducted inside the NIA headquarters rather than the court premises. Officials confirmed that the shift in venue was necessary because of the security risks associated with producing the gangster in an open courtroom.
Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is facing multiple charges related to organised crime, extortion networks and alleged involvement in terror-linked activities. The NIA has been questioning him in connection with several cases involving cross-border operatives and gang alliances that have expanded into extortion, arms trafficking and threats against public figures.
During the in-house hearing, the NIA argued that they required more time to interrogate Bishnoi and piece together information about the funding, overseas handlers and communication methods used by the crime syndicate. The judge agreed with the agency’s request, citing the complexity of the investigation and the need for continued questioning.
Security was tightened around the NIA headquarters throughout the process. Officials ensured restricted access, strict identification protocols and limited movement during the proceedings. The extension of custody is expected to help investigators trace additional links connected to the Bishnoi network and gather evidence before filing further charges.
The case continues to draw national attention due to the growing influence of organised crime groups and the ongoing efforts of agencies to dismantle these networks.
