Sleeper bus travelling from Delhi to Varanasi catches fire, passengers escape in time
A sleeper bus carrying thirty to forty passengers from Delhi to Varanasi caught fire on the highway, forcing occupants to rush out for safety. Fortunately, all passengers managed to escape in time and no injuries were reported.
A major fire incident occurred during the Delhi to Varanasi route when a sleeper coach suddenly caught fire while travelling with thirty to forty passengers on board. The flames spread quickly through the lower section of the vehicle prompting passengers to alert the driver and evacuate immediately.
Videos captured by witnesses showed thick smoke and flames rising from the bus as people rushed out with their belongings. The rapid spread of the fire caused panic among the travellers but timely intervention helped prevent any casualties. Passengers managed to move away from the vehicle before the fire intensified.
Reports suggest that the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit although the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. The driver stopped the bus and ensured everyone moved out to a safe distance before the flames engulfed the coach completely.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Authorities are now inspecting the wreckage to determine the cause and ensure proper safety compliance by the travel operator. Officials have also emphasised the need for better maintenance checks on long distance sleeper buses to avoid similar incidents.
The event has sparked conversation about highway safety and the condition of private sleeper coaches which serve thousands of passengers every day on intercity routes.
