TRAI October data shows Jio and Airtel adding subscribers while Vodafone Idea continues to lose users
TRAI’s October subscriber report shows that Reliance Jio and Airtel have expanded their user base once again while Vodafone Idea continues to lose subscribers. The latest data reflects ongoing shifts in market share within India’s telecom sector.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released subscriber data for October and the numbers indicate a continued rise in users for both Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. Jio maintained its position as the country’s largest telecom operator by adding a strong volume of new customers. Airtel also recorded noticeable growth supported by steady demand for its 4G and 5G services.
Vodafone Idea however reported another drop in active subscribers. The company has been struggling with network expansion, financial challenges and competitive pressure from rivals. The decline in user numbers highlights the tough environment the operator faces in retaining customers as consumers increasingly prefer faster and more reliable telecom services.
The TRAI data also shows improvements in wireless broadband usage across the country. With rising adoption of digital payments, online education, entertainment and remote work, both Jio and Airtel have seen higher consumption of mobile data. Their investments in 5G rollouts and network upgrades have contributed to better user experience which in turn is helping customer retention.
Meanwhile Vodafone Idea’s reduced subscriber base may widen the gap further unless the company accelerates its network improvements and financial restructuring. Analysts say that market competition will intensify as telecom operators prepare for more aggressive data plans, wider 5G coverage and improved bundled services.
The latest report offers a clear snapshot of India’s telecom landscape where Jio and Airtel continue to strengthen their market share while Vodafone Idea struggles to keep pace with industry growth.
