Rahul Gandhi has said that manufacturing is declining in India and warned that the country cannot rely on isolated factories without strong supporting ecosystems. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised concerns over the state of manufacturing in India, saying the sector is declining and requires urgent attention. He argued that simply setting up factories is not enough and that India needs to build meaningful manufacturing ecosystems to revive industrial growth and create sustainable employment.
Speaking on the issue of economic development and jobs, Rahul Gandhi said manufacturing thrives only when supported by a strong network of suppliers skilled workers logistics and access to finance. Without these elements working together, factories struggle to compete and fail to deliver long term benefits to the economy.
He pointed out that countries which have succeeded in manufacturing focused on creating complete ecosystems rather than isolated production units. These ecosystems include training institutions research support small and medium enterprises and reliable infrastructure. According to him, India must adopt a similar approach to strengthen its industrial base.
Rahul Gandhi also highlighted the link between manufacturing and employment generation. He said the decline of manufacturing has directly affected job creation, particularly for youth and semi skilled workers. Reviving the sector, he added, is essential for addressing unemployment and ensuring inclusive growth.
The Congress leader criticised current policies, saying they have not adequately supported small manufacturers and local entrepreneurs. He argued that excessive focus on a few large players does not create broad based growth and leaves many parts of the economy vulnerable.
His remarks come amid ongoing debate over India’s economic trajectory and the effectiveness of industrial policies.
