
Shubman Gill Named ICC Player of the Month
Indian opener Shubman Gill has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2025, following his exceptional performances in the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy. Gill amassed 259 runs in the three-match series against England, which included a century and two half-centuries, helping India secure a dominant 3-0 victory. His consistent performances also played a key role in India’s Champions Trophy campaign, where he registered a brilliant century against Bangladesh and a crucial 46-run knock against Pakistan.
Gill’s outstanding form propelled him to the No.1 spot in the ICC ODI rankings, surpassing Pakistan’s Babar Azam. Recognizing his achievements, ICC awarded him the prestigious Player of the Month title. Expressing his delight, Gill stated that his primary motivation comes from performing for the country and that the momentum gained ahead of the Champions Trophy was crucial.
“I am elated to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for February. Nothing gives me more motivation than performing with the bat and winning matches for my country. The lead-up to the Champions Trophy 2025 was very crucial, and I am glad I was able to make the most out of it. It has been a phenomenal start to the year, and I look forward to an action-packed cricketing season,” Gill said.
Alana King Wins Women’s Player of the Month
On the women’s side, Australian spinner Alana King secured the ICC Player of the Month award for February. She delivered an exceptional performance in the one-off Ashes Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, playing a crucial role in Australia’s success.
“There’s no bigger stage than an Ashes Test at the MCG, and I’m grateful to have been a part of it. I will remember that series, especially the Test match, for a long time,” King said.
